Sound Physlet-Based Curriculum

These examples of curricular material appear in Section 8.10. Follow a link on the left to go to the individual Physlet problems found in that section and several bonus problems only available on this CD. Below is a brief description of each animation (to be written).

Chapter Problems:

8.10.1: The animation is a slow-motion representation of a a cross section of a sound wave propagating in Lucite.  A detector, the orange square, is placed in the pipe and properly measures the pressure.  8.10.2: The animation represents a cross section of a sound wave propagating in a pipe.  A detector, the orange square is placed in the pipe and properly measures the pressure.  8.10.3: The animation represents a cross section of a three dimensional sound wave propagating away from a moving source.  

 

Additional Problems:

8.10.ap 1:  The animation above shows the resultant sound wave pattern from two sources, each of which can be turned on and off.
